Save Yeppoon TAFE – Stop the Secret Plan

PETITION TO THE QUEENSLAND STATE PARLIAMENT

Save Yeppoon TAFE – Stop the Secret Plan

To the Honourable Speaker and Members of the Queensland Legislative Assembly,

We, the undersigned residents of Queensland, oppose the proposed conversion of the Yeppoon TAFE site into an Aboriginal school for troubled and disengaged youth.

The decision has been made without proper community consultation, and the approval of the Queensland Government is still required.

We believe the Yeppoon TAFE site, located beside the Yeppoon High School on Tabone Street, is not an appropriate location for this initiative. A more suitable alternative should be considered in consultation with the community.

I do not consent for this type of school to open here in Yeppoon! We need more private schools here to cater for the enormous ever growing community! Private schools are all at capacity and the Yeppoon high state school is not good enough. We are forced to drive to rockhampton for other schooling options, we need to cater for the family community in Yeppoon who contribute to society and make Yeppoon a better place.

What an absolutely stupid idea to have offenders next door to a school.

We want to deter troubled and delinquent juveniles from our beautiful community. How can this government decide that they would be better off giving delinquent repeat defending aboriginal children and education that they don’t want to turn up to..

Kick out the elderly and anybody else who is in need in this community all for the aboriginal vote this is not welcome to country. It is not educating them in their country. Send them out West where they will truely learn from country. Also I question where are you even going to accommodate them?

Much better and more viable option would be using either Emerald or Longreach agricultural colleges that have been closed down. All the infrastructure is already there.

As per usual livingstone council and LNP don’t tell the full story to our community.

This social experiment should not happen right beside the high school
