Save Yeppoon TAFE – Stop the Secret Plan
PETITION TO THE QUEENSLAND STATE PARLIAMENT
Save Yeppoon TAFE – Stop the Secret Plan
To the Honourable Speaker and Members of the Queensland Legislative Assembly,
We, the undersigned residents of Queensland, oppose the proposed conversion of the Yeppoon TAFE site into an Aboriginal school for troubled and disengaged youth.
The decision has been made without proper community consultation, and the approval of the Queensland Government is still required.
We believe the Yeppoon TAFE site, located beside the Yeppoon High School on Tabone Street, is not an appropriate location for this initiative. A more suitable alternative should be considered in consultation with the community.

Jody Kendrick-Ward signed 2025-02-28 16:23:54 +1000Can they put it out at the caves where the old school of today school for delinquent students used to go? Not directly in town where they will devalue the town and steal from the YSHS, residential properties and businesses that are close by. Or use the indigenous schools and community centres that liberals built 3 years ago in the Northern Territory but when Labor got in they didn’t open them up?
It’s good that they want to help BUT they are dumping the problems onto a small town full of aged pensioners and retired families. What is the guarantee that the ppl of yeppoon are safe especially those children and residential families next to the safe going to have? We do not want yeppoon to turn into Rockhampton, Townsville & the Northern Territory!
Why put them into a situation where they are going to be hated and watched (indigenous kids) aren’t we supposed to be stopping this division? If it was any child that has issues fitting in and put in a location better suited for them away from being able to harm others and steal stuff with live in facilities like boarding-house, high fenses and security cameras around the school. That’s much better then in town. -
