Save Yeppoon TAFE – Stop the Secret Plan

To the Honourable Speaker and Members of the Queensland Legislative Assembly,

We, the undersigned residents of Queensland, oppose the proposed conversion of the Yeppoon TAFE site into an Aboriginal school for troubled and disengaged youth.

The decision has been made without proper community consultation, and the approval of the Queensland Government is still required.

We believe the Yeppoon TAFE site, located beside the Yeppoon High School on Tabone Street, is not an appropriate location for this initiative. A more suitable alternative should be considered in consultation with the community.

    Keep it out of residential area. It will devalue the properties and increase crime. Why not put it next to your place.

    I generally agree with the concept and purpose of a facility like this, but the proposed location is not at all suitable. I agree with James Ashby in that a facility more rural would be more appropriate. Not in the middle of Yeppoon where we have schools, daycares and 55+ retirement villages so close.

    Already crime is out of control and now the government was to put more trouble in the centre of an estate and town.
