Wayne Ziebarth was born and raised in Brisbane as one of six children in a typical working-class family. He completed his schooling at Salisbury and Lockyer District State High Schools. While still at school, Wayne enlisted in the Citizens Military Forces (Army Reserve) for eighteen months. At the age of 18, he entered the Australian Regular Army, serving in the Infantry with distinction for 21 years, before transferring to the Ready Reserve to complete a further four years of part-time service. Wayne was recognised for conspicuous service in the 1994 Australia Day Honours for his contribution to training, transforming the Army’s highest wastage training unit into one of the most economical without any interruption to programming, and increasing trainee output.

After leaving the regular army, Wayne studied Business at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and started his own business manufacturing clothing, which he was forced to close due to the increasing importation of cheap overseas products by major retailers. He then moved his family to Boonah, trained as an employment services consultant and youth worker in Ipswich, and has since worked as a bus driver and volunteered with Carinity at the Boonah Community Centre. Wayne raised six children, all of whom have become contributing citizens. He has also been involved with the RSL and enjoys time at the services club with his friends.

Wayne is a proud Aussie who believes in equal opportunity for all. He is concerned by the government’s national Digital ID initiative, which he sees as a threat to privacy and data security. Wayne believes that domestic violence and youth crime should be tackled by addressing root causes rather than apportioning blame. He also advocates for improved infrastructure in Queensland, particularly the Scenic Rim, including the completion of the Salisbury to Beaudesert rail, a dual carriageway from Browns Plains to Beaudesert on the Mt Lindsay Highway, and an access road from Kooralbyn to Boonah.

Wayne is dedicated to ensuring essential power and telecommunications systems are improved, reducing outages, and enhancing emergency services facilities, such as upgrading the QAS facility at Rathdowney. He is also concerned about weaknesses in health, education, and small business, and the waste of tax dollars. If elected as your representative in state parliament, Wayne promises total commitment to the improvement of Queensland, particularly the Scenic Rim.

I’m passionate about Scenic Rim and I’ve dedicated my career to delivering for our community.
