Senator Pauline Hanson’s Visit To The Fraser Coast
ON THURSDAY, July 25th, Senator Pauline Hanson from One Nation visited Hervey Bay to support Quinn Hendry, the One Nation candidate for Hervey Bay in the upcoming state election on October 26th.
Locals had the opportunity to meet and greet Pauline at the Hervey Bay RSL Hervey House and chat with her one-on-one.
During her visit, Senator Hanson and Quinn Hendry met with small business owners in the marina precinct who are struggling with unresolved issues.
One business owner, operating in Hervey Bay for over 30 years, has been without a lease on his rented premises for over seven years due to the State government not renewing it.
“This lack of certainty affects many hardworking small business owners, who are the backbone of the city and state,” said Quinn Hendry.
“Another significant issue in the marina is the boardwalk, which has been fenced off to residents and tourists for 14 years without a plan for repairs.”
“Local fishermen face difficulties, with green zones and red tape hindering their ability to earn a decent living.”
“Hervey Bay’s sustainable harvesters, many of whom are third and fourth-generation, see a bleak future unless changes are made.”
Senator Hanson and Quinn Hendry also met with Greg Wood, President of the River Heads Progress Association, to discuss the ongoing issue of the pontoon, which broke in half two years ago and remains unrepaired.
“This situation poses dangers, especially in rough weather, when transporting an injured person from a boat to the pontoon, said Greg.”
“Although funds are available in the Queensland government budget, repairs are still 12 months away.”
The visit also included a stop at We Care 2, a remarkable charity organisation in Hervey Bay.
“They are making a real difference with their food van, low-cost food at their supermarket, and providing tents and sleeping bags for those in need,” said Quinn.
“Like all charities, they need more help from volunteers, so please contact them if you can offer any assistance.”
