Containers For Change CLOSED in Yeppoon

Containers for Change have not responded to my questions about when a new recycling centre will open in Yeppoon despite closing the well known site on McBean Street.

Residents in Yeppoon recycle more than 1 million cans and bottles each month, making door-to-door pickup difficult to service that many customers over a two-day-a-week schedule.

Likewise, the two day operation in Emu Park is too small to cope with the volume of bottles and cans if Yeppoon residents were to take their recyclables there.

The best solution would be to continue with the current site, but that would require the State Government appointed body to admit they got things wrong.

We'll see where this all lands in another few weeks.
