- Senator Roberts' Talks: Engagement and Relevance Survey
Richard Henderson, 53, brings over 15 years of political experience and professional expertise to his candidacy for South Brisbane. A former journalist and public relations consultant, Richard began his career working in regional newspapers in South Australia before joining one of the world’s leading PR firms. His passion for politics drove him to become actively involved, advising ministers on agriculture, environmental policy, water reform, and communications. This career trajectory ultimately led him to work alongside Senator Pauline Hanson in 2021.
“Working with Pauline has been an eye-opening experience,” Richard reflects. “Her honesty, bravery, and dedication to Australians are qualities rarely found in politics today. She inspired me to take this step and stand up for the people of South Brisbane.”
Richard's platform is built on tackling the key issues affecting Queenslanders: the cost of living, surging crime rates, and the housing crisis. As a candidate, he also advocates for small business owners, cutting through the red and green tape stifling economic growth. His focus extends to the arts and entertainment industry, seeking to revive the struggling live music scene and protect iconic venues within the electorate.
Richard is deeply committed to preserving the heritage-listed East Brisbane State School, believing it can coexist with the redevelopment of the Gabba. He’s also passionate about holding the Greens accountable, highlighting what he sees as their destructive policies and political hypocrisy. ""The Greens promote a dangerous agenda that puts ideology above practical solutions,” Richard says. “Their calls to nationalise housing and banking are straight from a Marxist playbook. It’s time to stand against these agendas and protect our community.""
Richard aims to bring integrity back to politics by focusing on pragmatic solutions for South Brisbane. ""I’m committed to representing the people, not playing political games. Our community deserves a voice that listens and fights for what really matters.
I’m committed to restoring common sense in politics and ensuring South Brisbane remains a thriving, vibrant community. Together, we can tackle the challenges we face and build a better future.
